July 27, 2007

To City of Warren Residents,

By now most of you know that the City of Warren has received the LOMR (Letter of Map Revision) from FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Agency).  The effective date of this document is June 27, 2007.  This is great news for those that are planning new construction.  A new flood plain zoning ordinance has been adopted and with the revised LOMR, building elevations requirements have been lowered substantially.

Another area of interest for many of you is the requirement for flood insurance.  I have been in contact with several lending institutions as well as insurance agencies and the requirement for flood insurance may not be necessary as of June 27, 2007, the LOMR effective date of revision.  To find out more information on your requirement, check with your home mortgage lender.

I'm very excited for the community with the completion of the PL 83-566 flood control project.  This is certainly a monumental accomplishment for the City of Warren and I thank each one of you that had a helping part in its completion.

Sincerely yours,

Bob Kliner, Mayor
